The building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The landmark building was designed in 1925 by renowned architect Dwight James Baum, who also designed John and Mable Ringling's famous Ca d'zan mansion. In 2019, they bought and renovated a space in the historic Sarasota Times building in Sarasota, Florida, and turned it into Sage, the best new restaurant in a very savvy.
